Dazed and Confused.

Ever feel like somewhere along the way,

you lost track of life?

Like, appointments, schedules, and routines

caused you to forget to do all the things you enjoy?

Like you're missing out on the little things?

Like a good jam session in the morning in yer jammies?

The hilarity of a good fart joke?

Or a good nose pick while you're stuck in traffic?

So what am I saying?

Nothing.
Everything.

Somewhere along the way, between Christmas and those pizza vomit cleanups,

I forgot to laugh.
I forgot to just enjoy the dark chocolate cookie deliciousness that was breakfast, instead of worrying about how not healthy it was for the whole fam.

Or appreciate the time we asked Jace what happened to his arm, and he told us he just "licked it".

'Mmm hmm. You know, times like those.

I'm thinking, 'round these parts,

we'll get back to basics. You know, try and enjoy in the little things.

'Cause I wanna be like my kidlets, when I come home from the store, and they're all,

"Holy crap mom went to the store! And there's. . .. CHOCOLATE MILK!"

You know. Like that. Because chocolate milk is thee clear path to happiness.

Maybe take a que from Garth, and Live in the now! Because, like the hokey pokey, maybe that is what it's all about.

So... I have been surfing through your older posts (I saw the Pottery Barn mirror you made on another blog and came over from there) and I have to say, I am book-marking your blog. So many awesome posts. I totally agree about Santa (I framed up some vinyl that is all about the Christ part of Christmas and the word "Believe" in on this project because that's the correct context in relation to Christmas. Anyway, very cute shoes, love the idea of hanging your heels from gorgeous moulding. The street lamp in the house is too fantastic. So many fascinating entires. Thanks.

I felt that same way when I was getting ready for the Christmas Tea table thing. I am not doing it this year. I didn't like feeling overwhelmed and the feeling of just wanting to cry and have a fit. I have missed me some Treymane kid photos so thanks for posting them. I hope things get fun for you asap!

Very sweet! I have three boys myself and my grandmother's advice was to not take things so seriously (She had 4 boys and regretted only this). I love your pictures, such cute boys!

Well put. Often when I put my kiddos to bed I think that I should have taken more moments to just enjoy the cuddles, the wandering conversation, the joy in their musings. I become too concerned with teaching them - how to treat their bodies and health well, how to take advantage of learning in school, and being kind, respectful people with integrity. I forget. I forget how much I loved making mayo and lettuce sandwiches for my "campout" at a nearby tennis court - talking to the tiny people "living" in my mattress - building forts around myself out of books. In my excessive attempt to ensure my kiddos become good, productive, ambitious, intelligent people of the future, I'm forgetting about and missing the moments of now... those unexplainable moments of pure nirvana that only come with being a parent. Thanks for the post - some of us needed the reminder :)

Thanks. I'm glad to know that someone else appreciates a good nose pick besides the mister. Your photos are really amazing.

Ohhh, Mandi...I just love these posts, because they are usually echoing my feelings and because your kiddos are just.so.stinkin.caaaute.
The bra...the face...the lick...the box. These images make me smile and wax a little nostalgic for when my babies...were babies.

You are my favorite too, because you just rock!

I always feel infinitely better when I put my bra on sideways and run around the house.

So fantastic.

And every one of those pictures is worth a good belly laugh.

They are brilliant.

Chocolate milk still gets me joyful squeals of glee from my adult boys. Ok, no squeals but big thank yous! It also put me in my grandson's good book when I had a small carton waiting just for him (he's 3 /12yrs. so I'm plying him with goodies so he'll hang out with me).

Your photos as usual are stunning. Love the keyboard shot and the "pile on Daddy" one priceless (and less painful while they're still small)
