A word on 7.

I like to use birthdays as an excuse to drag my children around the house and snap pictures.

And they absolutely love it.

Obviously.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to ask the moms out there,

if their children are begging for a "Pillow Pet" too, due to excellent Saturday morning cartoon advertising.

And also, that besides the "birthday book" (of pictures of them), that the new birthday tradition of "birthday breakfast in bed" hath commenced.

That syrup looks very snot-like. Huh.

And on a final "tradition" note, I've decided to dress my children in their first day of school outfit on their last day of school.

First day of school:

Last day:

You know, so I can keep track of how big they're growing. Er something.
And if you're wondering why my son got out of school in July: he's in year-round track school. And if you don't have a clue what "track school" is, well, then, I guess I hate you.

So here's to being 7.

And dang, I love the crap out of that kid.

First and last day pics in the same outfit is a great idea. His sleeves definitely got a bit shorter. I adore that little curly Q of hair in the middle at the top of his forehead. Cute!

oh my word, YES, my kids are asking for pillow pets for their birthdays. Sigh. But breakfast in bed? I'm not that nice, because breakfast would literally be IN bed. Go you! Happy birthday buddy!

Yes, my kids also beg for a pillow pal. They are in our mall at a kiosk too-- ugh. I don't know how you fit your kid into the same outfit. I ended up passing the first day outfit to the next kid in line for the last day of school picture. I swear they were eating miracle grow for breakfast. Happy Birthday to your cutie 7-er.

What a handsome little man - don't tell him I said little.

I love your traditions. We haven't hit the pillow pet craze but I've seen all my neighbors posts asking where to get them. That means it'll probably hit us soon too.

I loved seven. Seven was a good year. Barbies Townhouse happened that year.

Ah, lovely.

Adorable munchkin shots too, btw.

Adorable pictures! Love your blog!

Hmmm, birthday breakfast in bed sounds interesting and new. We're kinda burnt out on the surprise bedroom decorating tradition.

Tooth fairy post, Ha!

Mandi your son is ADORABLE! I just love your photographs too...do you ever do any photography work on the side? If not, you should! What kind of camera do you use?

P.S. Since I rarely associate with anyone under the age of 25, I Googled "pillow pet" and it totally cracked me up - because my sister and I totally had those when we were little, maybe 15 years ago? Only they were flatter and made of fleece. And hey, at least if it's a fad, it's not a fad that makes obnoxious noises! (Think: Bop-it!)

Good post! I love the first day of school/last day of school outfit idea. I'll have to try that with Grace. However, it might end up being the first day/last day/first day/last day with her. She is not growing at all these days.
Hope your summer is going well!

Hey there, I tried to post your comments to my blog and deleted them instead. Thank you for always posting! I would love to be anywhere but here! AND I would still make cupcakes if I came there! ;-)
I see my comment above deleted too. I didn't do that. Think maybe I have a virus or something??? should I stop posting on your page in case I do?? Blogger doesn't like me today!
