Help A Girl Out--

Please, tell me--

can one have too many built-ins?

Because in my opinion, the more the merrier.

I swore last time I did one, though, that I wouldn't cut into drywall ever again.  Well, in this house, ever again.

And I asked a good buddy what she thought the last time I was building-in, and she said,

"Um. . . . ."

(The "um" of doom)

"Well. . . .are we talking about re-sale value of your house?"

So.  What say ye?  Aren't built-ins just more custom?  Do houses have, like, a 4 built-in limit?

'Cause I think this:

would be fan-freaking-tastic above my tub.  Some towels-- maybe some decorative soaps no one ever uses that gathers dust. . .

Help me out.  Give me the thumbs up or warn me now.  'Cause I need to know.  Tell me baby girl, 'cause I need to know.

I'm a realtor and I can honestly tell you that a home could never have too many PURPOSEFUL built-ins! (Those awful cut outs that builders sometimes put in the foyer are a waste of space.) So get at it girl. Get your built-in on! Haha

Ooh that would be awesome and useful. Besides, would you ever really sell your house to someone who doesn't appreciate molding/custom work anyhow?

100% yes to more built ins. Not that you're looking to sell anytime soon, right? but I think homebuyers are looking for a house that has upgrades and tasteful customizations……could there ever be too many built ins????? I love your new idea!

I think there can be too many in a house, as someone said they need to be "purposeful" ones.

I love the one above the tub but I suppose it would have to be one without a shower. I am thinking instead of the unused rusty medicine cabinet it would work on a smaller scale (& the cut out is already done!) (it has a mirror but it is on the wrong wall, it's beside the sink not in front).

I vote yes!

I WILL find a location in my house for built-ins. Maybe four like you. A girl can dream.
