Why I'm a Crappy Friend, Part 2 of 24,305.

Many moons ago,

the hubs and I were talking, late at night, as we occasionally do.  This talking always ends with one or both of us falling asleep, mid sentence.

Oh, oh wait-- we need a visual again while I talk:

There we go.  As always, I'm on the right.   Now, as I was saying.

So, this was my turn to doze off, and I don't even know how we got to this conversation, but all I remember is being awoken to:

"And ya know, sometimes you just listen to the same music over and over and overandoverandover and it's kind of annoying. . . and. . . "

One of my eyes popped open in an instant, and I'm all,

"Did he just, for the first time in 13 years, confess that something I do is super obnoxious??"

I admit it.  I love music, and when I love a song, I will listen to it 250,000 times in a row.

What does this have to do with today's project?  Not a whole lot.

Anyhow.

My great friend, Emily, had a birthday (so long ago I won't even say when it was because I'm so embarrassed.  Nope.  Make me.), and she told me she wanted a sign.

This sign will have her favorite quote from her favorite song.  Great idea, right?

I mean, I've got two signs from my fave songs.

and:

They're both from my favorite band, Blue October.  (Obsess much?)  And Emily just so happens to love Blue October as well.  'S part of why we get along so great.  That, and we really liked New Kids back in the day.

Ya know?  Let's listen to this song.  Yes, let's.

This is a Blue October/Imogen Heap collaboration, so it's basically like a delicious treat combo of both salty and sweet.
(Even the hubs approves of this song being played over and over. It's his favorite.)

So! I got to work.  Purchased a 3 foot piece of pine, and painted 'er white.

And then, Mckenna "Mckiller" Tremayne got a hold of a red sharpie, and went to town in the garage one day. (It's also covered in sawdust, as is everything in the garage.  Thanks for noticing.  There's also a disaster in and around this piece of pine.  Thanks for not noticing.)

Took me about 7 coats of paint/primer/stainblocker to get rid of that sharpie, thank you very much Kenna.  Probably would have been better off sanding it off.

Many thanks to my sister in law for cutting the vinyl for me.  Again.

I gave this thing like 10 coats of black spray paint.  Careful, light coats so as to prevent any bleed-through.  I've had that happen a lot before, see.

Moment of truth:

Phew.  See it all done?

Oh ma gosh, I really like it.  I think I'll just keep it instead.  Oh, I kidd.  I'm not that crappy of a friend.  But close.

Showoff of perfect sign letters!! Nah just kidding, it came out so great and your friend is a lucky girl!
This makes me think I need a vinyl-lettering cutting machine - what are they called? SO much easier than my method of tracing and filling in with a Sharpie. I love that you could easily do different fonts….that is awesome. The sign is fabulous Mandi!

Love it, Mandi! How do I get to be your friend? On time birthday gifts not necessary if they come out as good as this. : ) Every time I see that "illustration" of your sleeping arrangement I crack up. What have you got for snoring husbands? One night he stopped snoring and I thought he stopped breathing, so I woke him up to make sure he was still alive. My bad. Apparently.

Love that song. I think I need to steal your idea with that sleeping/dreaming quote. I love that song and that band too. Another awesome project btw :).

Awww, I love that last quote! So sweet. I bet your friend will love it forever and ever, but if not I'll take it :)

Love it. It is so great. What is the size of the board?

Also, one of my kids did the permanent marker thing in a rental home on the wall paper. That was fun!

I'd take a crapy friend like you any day.
None of my crapy friends have ever given me somethin that cool.
Of course, I've never given any of my friends something that cool, because I am lower than crapy.

I am guilty of listening to a song over and over and ovah...can't seem to help it...it's my music loving OCD.

I want to be your friend. I need to be your next door neighbor friend. Seriously. Just sayin'
