The Last Time I Talk About Why I'm a Crappy Friend. Hopefully.

One upon a time,  not long, long ago,
I felt like my garage was completely filled with unfinished projects that were meant for other people.
This means that I suck.
But I am happy to report, that this is the final project, and my garage is feeling soo much less guilt.
Once upon a time, I started making a drying rack.

And then I gave this project the kiss of death when I said to myself,

"Self, this is gonna be one of the easiest projects I've ever done."

I'd like to punch myself in the face for every time I think that errant thought. Allow me to sum it up with this e-card.  Because I believe that somewhere out there, there is an e-card for every emotion.

No matter how many times I've jinxed a project by saying it will be "easy", I go and do it to myself again. And again.

I can't even explain why this project gave me so many fits.

Fiddling with the dowels to ensure they were all fitting evenly, hunting down hardware that was described in the tutorial, only to find I purchased the wrong thing and no one knows what the right thing is. . .
Oh, and then. . . it's this frigid, icy cold disaster of nasty car water drips in the garage,

And so I'm painting it in the kitchen and crap.

But now that it's done,  I kinda want one. . .

not that I have an ounce of wall space in my laundry room.  Plus the idea of making another "easy" one for myself sounds as fun as chewing broken glass, so there's that.

Let's be honest though:

should a laundry drying rack belong to a girl who believes that there are only two kinds of laundry:
1. whites
2. everything else

And that everything gets hucked in the dryer and stays in there until it is bone dry/absolutely must be removed to make way for another load?  Absolutely no regard to "hand wash" or "dry clean only"?  "Stain clean"??   Pffft.

Ain't nobody got time for that.

This post totally cracked me up, lol! And, actually, I have seen a few drying racks around the web over the last couple of years, and, based on yours, I think I have just figured out how I'm going to do mine! So, there, your frustration, in the long run, is actually making my life a little easier, lol!

Well, if you ever get a notion to make another one, I will be your best friend and you can give it to me!

Oh - you mean it's functional too and not just cute-Ballard-Designy looking? I regard laundry in the same manner that you do, and it's my childrens' ritual to come down and get their clothes out of the dryer each and every morning before school. Fold? pshaw.

Love it - I'm sure you friend feels like it was worth the wait!!!!

I'm there a DIFFERENT way to do laundry? Cuz that's how I've always done it, too... ((scratches head))

Your drying rack is lovely! Maybe you could use it as a tie rack or something?! Mismatched socks? Bueller? ;)

I am so sorry... do you have chronic bronchitis too? ("Ain't nobody got time for that").

I've got a pale blue drying rack hanging on the wall of my "laundry room" and I use it for my delicate underwear. Love it and saves me $$$ so get on it!

You and I do laundry the exact same way. I don't need a cute folding ironing board either since I don't iron. Downy Wrinkle Releaser is my iron for the clothes that stay in the dryer too long.

Super cute drying rack though!!

I like to think it's the thought that counts - I too have unfinished projects for friend's birthday's that I have yet to finish. One is a pillow for my friend's bday that was in November... Whoops. No shame sister, no shame.

Your all caught up on projects for other people? Crap, now I'm hanging out in procrastion-ville all by my lonesome. The sad part is that my projects aren't even half as time consuming/labor intensive as yours.

I like your rack, by the way... I mean, the rack LOL!

OMG, best post EVER. I say the same "this will be so easy" thing to myself often and always end up cursing...myself. And I'm thinking about tattooing that YouTube lady's quote somewhere, that's poetry I tell you. She speaks the truth!!
