yes Mandi, I am with you girl! It seems that as women we take the thing that we love & turn into a business which then becomes work, which we then love less. I am learning to just love my little hobbies & to enjoy them! glad you are being honest here!!
You are such a good writer! Well done!
Yes. Very nice.Still jealous.Just sayin'.
Good job. And I agree, you don't need to make it a business. You can just take beatiful pictures and enjoy it. Dave says the same thing about installing car stereos or home theater sytems. He loves doing it and if he did it as a job, it wouldn't be as fun.
i really enjoyed this! thank you! i'm just a hobbyist who has done a few pictures for family & friends :)
I loooove your article! Funny enough, I was talking to my husbond 10 minutes before I read it and just told him that I wasn't sure I wanted to be in the photography business. I just wanted to keep it as a hobby... And than you came along...Thanks!
I completely agree!Brooke
Wow! Guest Blogger Status. Now you're really up there in my book...oh wait, you were already there!
What an awesome post over there and you got some amazing comments. Since I'm not even at the level of a hobbyist, I don't have to wrestle with that next step. By the way, you don't talk too much. Love your pictures and love your words just as much (and that wicked sense of humor).
Well said :) you made my day.
Awesome article! There's no denying that having a photog business has blessed my family in lots of ways, but I can't wait for the day we can do without it. I'm going to send your article to everyone who asks me about learning photography!
Loved it! I love how you can put your thoughts into words so well.I had similar thoughts when I took the kiddos to the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago. Everyone was there with their nice camera's & their kids all dressed to the nines...& I guess I felt a little jealous that my pictures always come out horribly & others have the per-fect picture. But, then I realized that I just like to capture my kiddos smile & the random nose picking or tackling each other. I don't have to have the perfect picture. It was liberating.
Great post. I've been struggling with the same idea for some time now. Every time i buy something camera or photo related, I feel that there must be a 'payoff'. Maybe it's time to acknowledge that I really don't want to be in business for myself. Nor do I have the skills to do so. Love your blog! Didn't think anyone else knew was a 'farging bastage' was!
Nice article! I am absolutely terrible at taking pictures, and that probably won't change anytime soon. In the meantime, I will just enjoy looking at your pictures instead :)
You, my dear, are a brilliant writer AND a brilliant photographer. Thank you for sharing your hobbies (gifts) with the world.
