After over a decade of storing my useless crap that clogged up her guest room, she finally made me take it all home.
Mean.
Doesn't she know that moms are supposed to store their kids' stuff forever?? Geez.
(that's a joke there, Sonny. A bad one.)
You know all that crap you have from your childhood that you feel like you shouldn't throw away but you don't want to keep it?
Yeee-ah. And it's sat in my trunk ever since. 3 weeks later. Still in the trunk.

Sigh. I hate a dirty trunk.
Well, there's nothing left to do here but
try it on.

Hang on a second-- I need to 90-ify my hair (helloooo hairspray and curling iron). That shouldn't be hard since my 'do hasn't changed much IN 20 YEARS.
This just brings me back. . .

(senior year dance warmups)
High School. '97. Those totally awesome (fatty) cheese rolls in the cafeteria,

(Dance Co. unitard; can't. . .breathe. . .sucking. . .in. . . It made me look hippy back then. It makes me look hippier now)
The awkward phase between pegged pants and flare jeans.

(my parents let me prance around in this tennis skirt?? I've heard crossing your legs is supposed to make them look less fat. Hence, the um, crossed legs. . .)
That German exchange student who went around all year saying everything was "Sooo sensual" 'cause someone told him that meant "cool".

And for the record,

(choir dress)
we thought this dress was ugly at the time. I think it might make a beautiful Christmas tree skirt, though.
So go try on your cheerleading/soccer/band/chess club/whatever uniform, would ya? Go pull out that old prom dress.
Mega extra points for your wedding dress.
And I'll put on my spandex polka dot sequined dance number if someone'll pay me. Or you might pay me not to. Either way.

Weeeelll, I'd go get out my wedding and prom dresses, but then I would have to cry silent tears and self-medicate with Ben & Jerry's.
YOU, however, look dwahling!
Haha, fun post and I would be so afraid to try stuff on. I have hung onto some bridesmaids dresses! It is the colorful end of my closet.
GURRRRRRL, you so brave!!! LOL. HOTNESS.
I will not be trying anything on...ha! But I still can't throw it out!
I still have all that stuff too (drill team uniforms for field and pep rallies, prom dresses, wedding dress) but I couldn't get a leg in it now. I was a stick the last couple of years in high school and now I'm a full tree. Kudos to you for still being able to wear all that. Plus, I would have to do way more to my hair since I graduated in the 80's (big, big hair decade). Fun post!
That is awesome that you can fit into clothes you wore back in high school. I would never make it back into anything.
But I know about getting random stuff back from your parents. My mom gave me a whole box (and I mean a whole box, it's full) of my new kids stuff...I have everything!!
ROFL! At least you can still fit into all of it right? It looks like you were a really busy person in high school!
1. Mentioning that you went to high school in the late 90's annoys me.
2. Being able to fit into clothes that you wore 20 years ago annoys me even more.
Good thing I like you so much.
LOL! I love the choir dress! You should save it for your christmas dress this year! Just make sure you put a giant green hairbow in your hair!=)
My mom was mean too! She passed all my stuff on to me, so I could store it. Now my daughter uses my cheerleading uniforms for halloween and when she has to dress up weird. Oh well, they were cool when I wore them. At least I thought so.

The fact that you can still fit into clothes you wore in high school makes me soooooooo incredibly jealous. Be proud of yourself, girl! The choir dress would make a lovely Christmas tree skirt. Will we see that on a future crapfts post?
I saw no hips in those pictures baby! You're amazing. My mom too gave me a box of crap...only it was trophies, and home made cabbage patch dolls (now talk about dating myself)...the cabbage patch doll went straight to DI...why? I don't want it, neither did my girls...crazy.
Do you take PayPal?
I told you all of that stuff still fit you!
YEAH..... There is no way in H*ll (really it's that bad I have to swear a bit) I could fit into ANY of those items! I kept an extra 10 lbs... with EACH kid (yup, adds up to 40). Nice of them to gift that to me (easier to blame them than exercise!) WAY TO GO!
man i leave for a few days and pow...flashback! too funny mandi! for the record, i don't think you could ever look hippie.
WOW! I can't believe you still have your choir dress. Those were so ugly!! Remember the girls that had a little bit of a sweating problem and all the "velvet" was worn off in the pit area. On a side note, I can't believe that you can still fit into all of that. You are just as thin as you were in high school.
I still have softball sweatshirts from high school I wear from like, 8 years ago. People make fun of me, but I'm sorry, I'm not going to get rid of a perfectly good sweatshirt.
I wish my prom dresses were as amazing as that.
Geesh, thanks of course you can fit your arse back in those because yours didn't grow like others! Love the mini and the Christmas Tree skirt! I'm thinking my fav is the purple shirt and black pants or are they blue that make your legs look 6 feet tall!
Too funny that you are showing us, I love it!
Hooooooly COW. Oh my gosh I am dying of laughter. This is the best post I have ever seen. That choir dress totally just takes the cake. Although the chest-high black stretch gauchos are a close second! P.S. props to you for fitting into your high school clothes years later!
I too went to school in the 90's and had lots of the same stuff that you had. I don't think I could fit one let in my clothes now. Forget about the wedding dress. I had my kids try it on and took funny pictures of them when my mom finally kicked it out of her house. The boys in my dress and veil was the best!
Oh My! GOODNESS! I loved this post. I loved that you fit into everything! I wish I had some of those things left but I know I am a few sized larger than my 1980's self.
This was fantastic! Especially the reference to Spice Girls Wannabe!
Hi Mandi-
Kudos to you for fitting into those clothes! I, on the other hand, graduated HS in the early '80's, and have no HS clothes left to try on. About a year ago, I tried on my wedding dress, which I wore in 1987. Although it was a little bit snug, I was able to zipper it up, and my DDs had a blast taking pictures of me!
Nutmegger
LOVE this post. My dad has been "sneaking" boxes of my crap into our attic, everytime we go out of town. I guess I need to pull some down and grab my camera. I know my lil ones will get a kick out of it. Hugs, Tara
Whoa, flashback! The fancy schmancy choir dress was the same number we wore my Sophomore year.
(Yes, I AM blog-stalking you and have read all your posts back to this date. Why do you ask?)
